Bosch Hobs
Bosch builds hobs across three fuel types and a couple of design tiers, so the choice usually comes down to how you cook, the cutout you have to work with, and whether you want rotary knobs or touch control. Compare live prices from UK retailers before committing.

Gas, induction or ceramic, which Bosch hob suits your kitchen?
Gas suits cooks who want a visible flame, instant heat response and pans that don't need a magnetic base. Bosch's gas range covers four-burner 60cm models for standard cutouts and five-burner 75cm models when you want a wok burner alongside the everyday rings. Induction is the faster, more controllable option, and Bosch's electric range leans heavily this way: it heats only the pan, wipes clean in seconds, and the touch sliders make simmering a sauce far easier than a dial. Ceramic sits in the middle on price but cooks more like a traditional electric hob, with radiant zones under a smooth glass surface. It's the cheapest way into a flush-fit black glass look if induction-ready pans aren't on the cards. Read More...
How wide should you go, 60cm, 75cm or 80cm?
The 60cm Bosch hob is the safe default. It drops into the standard UK kitchen cutout, leaves room either side for prep, and covers everything from a four-zone induction up to a four-burner gas. Step up to 75cm if you want a five-burner gas layout with a dedicated wok ring, useful for stir-frying or large stockpots. The 80cm induction is worth considering if you regularly cook on more than three pans at once or want a flexi-zone area that takes a long roasting tray across two zones. Measure the worktop cutout before you commit, the depth is usually fixed at around 51cm but width tolerance varies.
Series 2 or Series 4, what changes when you pay more?
Series 2 covers the entry-level Bosch hobs. You still get the brand's build quality, FlameSelect-style burner control on gas, and basic touch or rotary controls on electric. Series 4 adds finer cooking control: more precise heat steps on induction, often a CombiZone or bridge function, residual heat indicators on every zone, and improved pan-detection on induction so a small milk pan registers properly. If you cook complex meals or use a lot of small pans, Series 4 earns the upgrade. If the hob is mostly for boiling, frying and the occasional sauce, Series 2 does the job.
Touch control or rotary knobs?
Touch sliders give you cleaner glass and quicker fine-tuning, which matters most on induction. Rotary knobs are tactile, easier to use with wet or floury hands, and tend to be standard on gas. Neither is better, it's a kitchen-habits call. Touch control on a gas hob is rare and usually a premium feature, so if you see it, expect to pay for it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Only ferrous-base pans work on induction. Hold a fridge magnet to the bottom of the pan, if it sticks firmly, you're fine. Most modern stainless steel and cast iron pans work, pure aluminium and copper do not unless they have a bonded induction base.
Most full-size Bosch induction hobs need a dedicated 32A circuit wired by a qualified electrician. They don't run off a standard 13A plug. Check the rating plate against your consumer unit before booking install.
The standard Bosch gas hobs are set for natural gas. Many models include or support LPG injectors for bottled gas, but conversion needs to be done by a Gas Safe engineer. Check the spec sheet for the specific model code before assuming it's compatible.
The product is 60cm across the glass, but the worktop cutout is usually around 56cm by 49cm. Bosch publishes the exact cutout dimensions in the installation manual for each model, and the gap is what counts, not the visible glass.
If you cook for four-plus regularly, use a wok, or run a stockpot alongside three other pans at Sunday lunch, yes. The fifth burner is usually a high-output wok ring. For a couple or a small family using two or three rings most of the time, four burners is plenty.
Wipe spills off warm, not hot. Use a dedicated hob cream and a soft cloth, then a glass scraper at a shallow angle for burnt-on sugar or melted plastic. Avoid abrasive pads, they micro-scratch the glass.
Not always. Some hob and oven combinations share electrical loads or require specific clearance. Check both the hob and oven manuals for compatibility, and confirm the cabinet ventilation cutouts before drilling.
